We're nearing the one year mark for Google's Pixel and Pixel XL. Naturally, it's time to start thinking about their successors, which brings us to a recent FCC filing made by HTC. The Taiwanese company handled the design of both the Pixel and Pixel XL last year, but it's rumoured that they're only handling the smaller model of the forthcoming phones.

While the legitimacy of the FCC filing is not fully confirmed, if true, it appears that the HTC U11 may be the inspiration for a number of features on the Google Pixel 2. To that end, a discovery by Android Police points to the sides of the phone being squeezable in order to launch specific applications. It was a rather gimmicky feature on the U11, so it should be interesting to see how Google spins it, if it actually appears on the Pixel 2.

Along with the squeeze function, the Pixel 2 is said to be ditching the headphone jack, and won't sport as slim bezels as the LG-designed Pixel XL 2. Added to this, the Pixel 2 may be running Android 8.0 by the time of launch, as well as having a dual speaker audio setup up front.

With some time still until the next generation of Google Pixel makes its expected debut in October, more news about the devices is likely incoming.
