Garmin's fashion and fitness-focused vivomove land in South Africa
By Staff Writer 6 September 2016 | Categories: newsIt's been some time since news of a newly minted wearable device from Garmin has come our way. Changing that is the new vivomove, a smartwatch that the company believes will appeal to both the fashion and fitness-focused consumer alike. The device is now available in South Africa, and comes in both a Classic and Sport model.
What makes the vivomove particularly intriguing, is that unlike other smartwatches at the moment, it features a purely analogue face. The tracking element comes in the form of two bars either side of the centre dial. The left side tracks steps, filling up the bar according to your daily step goal. The right side serves as a reminder to move, which lights up when a vivomove wearer has been inactive for too long.
The smart part of the vivomove is delivered via the Garmin Connect app, which allows users to track specific types of workouts and sleep, along with competing against other people in the Garmin online community.
The vivomove is currently available for purchase in both the Classic and Sport models. The Classic (Black or Rose Gold frame) retails for a recommended R3 799 and the Sport (Black or White frame) for R2 999. Both models feature a one year battery life (interchangeable), as well as a number of different watch straps that can be swapped out.
