Google Lens makes its way to the Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 1 June 2018 | Categories: newsThere are a number of AI-esque features that Google has left exclusive to its Pixel devices, but Google Lens is not one of them. The functionality is set to arrive on Sony's Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, both of which were unveiled at MWC 18 earlier in the year.
Having Google Lens on the XZ2 in particular may prove worthwhile as the phone's camera performance and price tag make it one of the better value for money flagship devices out there. As far as accessing Google Lens goes, Sony says it can be tapped into by updating one's Google app in the Play Store.
For those unfamiliar with Google Lens, it uses image recognition and AI processing in order to provide information on real-world objects. The information varies from Google Search data, where the item can be bought, to translating and copying text from actual documents.
These features are not limited to Google Lens alone, with the likes of Huawei, LG and Samsung all touting their own similar, if a little less complete, offerings.
