Google Play will allow users to test apps before installing
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 20 October 2017 | Categories: newsGoogle's Instant Apps feature has been around for some time, but only been available via a handful of the company's services and solutions. Now, it will be more widely accessible, with it arriving in the Google Play Store. Google has now integrated a Try Now feature for some of its application pages, allowing users to essentially test out an app before they actually download it if full.
The feature is not available across all apps, but only a select number for now, with the list expected to grow in coming months. Ideally Instant Apps will prove most valuable for lesser known application developers, with users sometimes hesitant to try out an app that does not appear in any of the popular or editor's choice lists.
Along with Instant Apps, Google has readied a few more tweaks for the Play Store, specifically for games, adding trailers and a premium section for paid titles. Another notable change will see Google decrease its take for subscription apps from 30% to 15%, should a user remain subscribed for more than a year.
These changes, however, will only rollout in the new year, slated to be ready from 1 January onwards.
