Are you obsessed with art or want to know more about different art forms? Google's latest app might just be the thing for you. Part of the company's Cultural Institute, it has released a new Arts and Culture app for iOS and Android users.

For all you philistine's out there, Google has baked in a number of tools to make the app more interactive and easier to navigate. For example, it has a rich search feature, which not only covers specific artists or movements, but colours, types of objects and years too. Added to this is the ability to scroll through artists' work through time, seeing the progression of Van Gogh's work from gloomy to vivid for instance. Google is also curating the app to feature a certain story each day, focusing on some of the more unknown elements in art.

For those that wish to make their Arts and Culture experience a bit more immersive, there's also full VR functionality, so you can take virtual tours through various art movements throughout history.

The final feature worth noting is the Art Recogniser. As the name suggests, it will allow users to hold their smartphone up to a piece of artwork when in-app, and get more info on pieces of art. The Art Recogniser is limited to recognising art in select museums at the moment, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, United States.
