Hisense has big plans for the local mobile market, specifically the mid-range sector. That's the sentiment the China-based manufacturer espoused yesterday at the launch of its two new Android smartphone offerings - the Elegance (E76) and Faith (F31)

Both devices sport all-aluminium unibody designs, along with being fully 4G/LTE enabled and touting Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Of the two, the Elegance is the larger at 5.5" and features slightly better specifications that its smaller brethren. The display serves up Full HD quality and a 400 ppi pixel density. The 5.0" Faith on the other hand, features HD visuals and a pixel density of 294 ppi.

As we move internally, both devices opt for a octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.4 GHz processor, with the Elegance utilising 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB onboard storage compared to the Faith's 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB storage. There's also a microSD slot on each of the smartphones, good for a further 128 GB. Moving to the rear, there are 13 MP primary cameras, as well as a fingerprint sensor located just below it, on both the Elegance and the Faith.

Hisense says the Elegance and Faith are currently available from all Foschini and Edgars stores, and should be reaching MTN outlets in the coming weeks. In terms of pricing, the Elegance retails for a recommended R3 999 and Faith for R2 999. Whether these two offering scan shake up the mid-range marker remains to be seen.
