We’re not saying that certain things are bound to happen, but we are actually wondering why it took so long for the Hitman video game series to get its own comic book. Hitman started off as a game, then evolved into a movie, and, if The Hollywood Reporter is to be believed, it will soon be turned into a comic book.

20th Century Fox, responsible for the upcoming Hitman: Agent 47 movie, has partnered with one of our favourite comic book publishers, Boom! Studios, to bring the comic to live. The comic will be a prequel to the movie, featuring Agent 47 encountering a lethal enemy, with this adventure eventually taking us up to the opening sequence of the movie.

F.J. DeSanto (Immortals: Gods and Heroes, Insurgent, Cyborg 009) is said to do the writing, while Jesus Hervas (Hellraiser, Sons of Anarchy) will work on art. There is no news yet about an official release date.

Boom! Studios are known for their comic book tie-ins, with their Planet of the Apes, Hellraiser, 28 Days Later, Big Trouble in Little China and Sons of Anarchy comics selling well.

The new movie stars the relatively unknown Rupert Friend (The Young Victoria) playing barcoded Agent 47, and also features geek favourite Zachary Quinto (Spock in Star Trek). It is set to debut in August this year.

Check the trailer below to see if Hitman: Agent 47 will be better than the first Hitman movie.
