Intel reveals new Ice Lake 10 nanometer chip
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 16 August 2017 | Categories: newsBack in March this year, Intel detailed its first batch of 10 nanometer CPUs, none of which have officially been released. That has not stopped the company from detailing its second generation of 10 nm designed chips, with the company naming them the Ice Lake platform.
Along with promising "amazing performance and responsiveness", as many manufacturers do, The Ice Lake CPUs are built on a 10 nm+ architecture. That unfortunately, are all the definitive details on the new lineup, with Intel yet to showcase the CPUs full plethora of features and specifications.
Consequently, it has the tech media community speculating on what the Ice Lake CPU will be touted for. According to AnandTech, the chip could prove a better option for desktop devices, with its 10 nm forebearer being designed for possible use in a mobile setup.
With that aforementioned chip, Cannon Lake, still slated for an early 2018 release, it may be some time still until we see the Ice Lake CPUs make their presence known, with a 2019 launch being rumoured.
