Locally developed shopping app SNAPnSAVE launched in SA
By Staff Writer 17 July 2015 | Categories: newsSNAPnSAVE, a free web and mobile shopping app developed in Cape Town and launched this month, allows hard pressed South African shoppers to get cash back on everyday grocery items wherever they shop in-store by taking a snapshot of their till slip.
As a SNAPnSAVE user, you select the offers you want, buy them in-store and, using your mobile device’s camera, send a snap of your till slip to verify the purchase. The till slips are verified using photo recognition technology, and the money is then credited into a user's SNAPnSAVE e-wallet, although greater detail is needed on how this process is facilitated.
The launch of the platform comes in the wake of a global trend that will see over 100 million Americans redeeming digital coupons when shopping this year, and one billion people internationally expected to use digital coupons by 2019. “Globally, we are seeing more and more mobile technology being developed and used to enable consumers to make smarter purchasing decisions,” says SNAPnSAVE CEO, Mark Bradshaw.
SNAPnSAVE has been developed with the support of TAT Ventures, an overseas-based investment house that backs start-up tech ideas that provide African solutions to African problems.
“We’ve developed the platform specifically for the South African market and have made getting cash back for shopping easier, discrete and more convenient than ever before,” concludes Bradshaw.
