Microsoft has an update for Office app users that might not be too pleasing if you're not running Windows 10. In a recent article, the company noted the terms and conditions of service for Office 2019, noting that it will only be supported on devices that feature the Windows 10 operating system.

As such, users will need to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 in order to gain access to the Office 2019 suite of applications, but will not need to sign up for their Office 365 service. This change is not said to effect any user with Office for Mac

Along with outlining the new terms of service for Office 2019, Microsoft also mentioned that it would be offering a five year support lifecycle for the upcoming software, as well as a two year extension of support.

How those with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 will react remains to be seen, but we should get a clearer picture when Office 2019 releases in the latter half of this year.
