When Google unveiled the Pixel and Pixel XL last year, it was not the only device the company had to showcase, with the Google Home speaker and Daydream View headset also making an appearance. According to a leaked image from Droid Life, Google may be following a similar modus operandi for next month's Pixel 2 event.

To that end, we may be seeing a far smaller version of the Google Home speaker make an appearance, with it said to be called the Google Home Mini. Along with featuring decreased dimensions and a new form factor, the Google Home Mini will likely be wired instead of wireless, if the image above is to be believed. It's also set to come in three colour choices of Chalk, Charcoal and Coral, with a $49 price tag in the offing.

It too is said to be smart like the Google Home, with Google Assistant powering the device and a row of four multicoloured LED lights appearing on top of the speaker that will flash when the Home Mini is spoken to.

While Google is yet to hint at its official arrival on 4 October, we're hoping that some of the company's new hardware will find its way to SA in some capacity.
