The Hisense SA Export Strategy Conference is currently underway in Cape Town, mainly dealing with the Chinese company’s approach to the African market. Apart from Hisense’s new ULED televisions (direct competition against OLED units), there were also two new smartphones on display, set to launch at the end of August/early September in South Africa.

First up is the Hisense infinity H7 Pure Shot (L671) is a 5” midrange device, heading to retail in the R4 500 price range locally. With an octa-core 1.36 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, it serves up a very decent meal. Add to this dual-SIM capabilities, a 13 MP back- and 5 MP front facing cameras, 1280x720 resolution on the screen, a 2200 mAh battery, and you’re looking at a good value for money device.

On the higher end of the spectrum is Hisense’s new flagship, the infinity K8 (H910). With a 5.5” full HD screen and a faster 1.5 GHz octa-core processor it is set to shake things up with a retail price of R5 500. Onboard is Android 5.0, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage and a 2700 mAh battery, while this 4G device also comes with dual-SIM slots. Like the H7 it contains a 13 MP camera, upping the front megapixels to 8MP.

With the Sero 8 tablet and the Infinity Maxe doing a fair bit to impress us recently, we’re hoping to see if the H7 and K8 can do the same. Stay tuned for reviews as soon as they are released locally.
