New MGSV: The Phantom Pain trailer unveiled at Gamescom 2015
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 7 August 2015 | Categories: newsIt's less than a month till Konami's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (MGSV TPP) makes its debut on both console and PC platforms come 1 September. As such, all eyes were fixed on Cologne, Germany, were Konami unveiled a new trailer to fawn over.
End of an Era?
The new trailer sees creator Hideo Kojima get deep, and cut together a rather cinematic take on the world of Snake and his Diamond Dogs. It starts off very ominously, as the words, "IT'S THE END OF AN ERA" make their way onto screen. We then see our favourite eyepatch-sporting protagonist ascend in a helicopter, as he goes into the wilderness and behind enemy lines to complete what could be his final mission.
"I like working solo anyway," says Snake (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) as he stealthily enters an enemy base under the dark of night. As with previous MGS games, and Ground Zeroes in particular, moving undetected will play a significant role in terms of gameplay. We also see time has not dulled Snake's edge, taking down targets in MGS' signature Close Quarters Combat (CQC) style.
The world Snake enters is also the largest Konami has designed to date, with real time weather conditions and environmental changes, only befitting a game of MGSV TPP's stature.
