In July this year, details emerged about Nintendo's NES Classic Edition, and the plethora of retro gaming titles it would have onboard. Not to be outdone by its Western counterparts, however, Nintendo has detailed a new Famicom Mini console which will be exclusive to its native Japan. 

This retro-styled console is based on the same design Nintendo utilised in 1983 for the original Famicom, which debuted two years before the NES Classic. Like the newly released NES Classic, the Famicom comes pre-loaded with 30 8-bit games, all in Japanese of course. 

Neither console truly has an advantage on the other when it comes to games on offer, but the Famicom Mini certainly looks the cooler of the two. Set to go on sale on 10 November in Japan, it will cost ¥5 980 (R828). Hopefully though, it won't remain a Japan exclusive for long.
