We've seen HMD Global launch a number of smartphones in South Africa this year, tackling the mid-range and flagship levels of the spectrum, but now it's time for the company's entry-level offering. To that end, the recently unveiled Nokia 2 has landed on local shores as an exclusive to Vodacom.

Both HMD and Vodacom have a history of pairing up for exclusives in the past, having done so for the flagship Nokia 8 at the device's launch. As for the Nokia 2, it's unclear at this stage how long it will remain exclusive to that carrier, with it receiving a recommended price tag of R1 699 and available from Vodacom outlets as of today (13 November).

As far as the price goes, it's kept in line with the Nokia 2's European tag of €99. Along with the relatively low asking price, the Nokia 2 also features a sizeable 4100 mAh battery with HMD says can deliver up to two days' battery life.

Other elements include a 5.0" display (1280x720), as well as an 8 MP primary camera, quad-core Snapdragon 212 processor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB onboard storage (microSD slot for an extra 128 GB).
