OPPO impress with three new concept products at annual INNO Day
By Staff Writer 18 November 2020 | Categories: newsChinese smartphone manufacturer, OPPO recently entered the South African smartphone market with the A72, A53s and A15 smartphones. So what do they have in store for the future? Yesterday, OPPO INNO DAY 2020, OPPO's annual technology conference, was held in Shenzhen, China, and revealed some interesting concept products the company is busy with.
Against the backdrop of the Internet of Experience, OPPO set forth the new brand belief “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World” and "virtuous innovation," unveiling for the first time the "3+N+X" technology development strategy. At the event, OPPO also debuted OPPO AR Glass 2021, the OPPO CybeReal AR application and the OPPO X 2021 rollable concept handset.
To OPPO, the AR Glass 2021 fully manifests the “leap” in OPPO’s exploration of the digital world. Adopting the brand-new split design, OPPO AR Glass 2021 is compact and ultra-light (75 percent lighter than its predecessor) smart glasses, and supports a number of natural interactions, which include smartphone, gestures, and spatial localisation. As for the core components, OPPO AR Glass 2021 is built with the birdbath optical technology (integrated flat beam splitter and spherical lens) to enhance the immersive experience.
Also, OPPO AR Glass 2021 features a diverse sensor array, including two fisheye cameras, one ToF depth sensor, and one RGB sensor. It can complete the three-dimensional spatial localisation calculation within milliseconds, achieving precise positioning and offering users real and natural experience of spatial interaction in the AR world through constant updates and feedback of real-time positioning of the user within the space.
OPPO states the CybeReal real-time spatial calculation AR application, powered by high-precision localisation technology, has powerful digital processing capability and is supported by OPPO’s three core technologies - precise world mapping, real-time, high-precision localisation, and OPPO Cloud. Leveraging multiple sensors, the system forms a comprehensive closed loop of data via real-time information mapping with the cloud platform to enrich the user’s perception and understanding of the real world.
Certainly the most interesting of the day, at least for us, is the OPPO X 2021 rollable concept handset. The company believes this R&D achievement is pushing the boundaries of flexible display and structural stacking, bringing users a more natural interactive experience. The concept handset features three major OPPO proprietary technologies: Roll Motor powertrain, 2-in-1 Plate, and Warp Track high-strength screen laminate. It also has a retractable storage design that provides more possibilities for cameras, batteries, speakers, and mobile phone antennas, leading to a continuously variable OLED display that measures as small as 6.7” and expanding as large as 7.4”, which allows users to adjust the size of the display based on their actual needs.
Tony Chen, OPPO Founder and CEO, pointed out that OPPO is determined to pursue “virtuous innovation” and create more great products through its 3+N+X technology development strategy.
Tony Chen stressed at the second successful OPPO INNO DAY that OPPO hopes to create a world of kindness through virtuous innovation. Inspired by 'Technology for all Mankind, Kindness for the World," OPPO integrates technological innovation with a human touch in order to give users value by offering personalised technology that is friendly, appropriate, and relevant. Going forward, OPPO will continue to collaborate with partners to illuminate the future of humane technology.
“OPPO uses technology to empower people to capture the beauty around them and to unleash their imagination of the future; thereby helping everyone get the best out of life. Accordingly, we decide to set forth the 3+N+X technology development strategy for OPPO’s long-term development,” Chen said.
The “3” refers to the three underlying technologies, namely hardware, software and services technologies, which help OPPO to bring an integrated smart life to users worldwide. “N“ represents the number of OPPO essential capabilities, including AI, security and privacy, multimedia, and interconnectivity. Lastly “X” refers to the leading-edge and differentiated technologies and strategic resources, such as the flash charge technology, that foster innovation and greatly improve user experience.
