Opening cinematic for Halo 5: Guardians is suitably awesome
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 1 September 2015 | Categories: newsThere's nothing quite like a good opening cinematic to amp up the anticipation before a game. While some studios indulge a bit too much, case in point Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, others get the mix just right. Thankfully, the one that Microsoft Studios just placed online for Halo 5: Guardians looks fantastic, detailing just enough action to leave FPS gaming fans wanting more when it releases on 27 October.
In it, we see Fireteam Osiris, the group of Spartans lead by Spartan Locke, as they prep for their first mission in tracking down Master Chief. As such, there is a genuine tension in the air, which Microsoft Studios has done well to showcase visually. We also get a look at each Osiris member sans their Spartan helmet, getting a pretty solid view of Jameson Locke (Mike Colter) and Edward Buck (Nathan Fillion).
The Fireteam then leaps from their ship, descending down through a fleet of Covenant and Promethean aircraft, and trying to avoid enemy fire. After making a great entrance on the battlefield, we see Locke and the rest of the Osiris team go to work, showing just how formidable they are.
