If you are not partaking in the 1st birthday celebrations over at Fortnite Battle Royale this weekend, you might want to check out what’s the deal over at Overwatch. As happens ever so often, the game will be free to play, starting this Thursday (26 July) and ending on Sunday. There’s a catch unfortunately, with this applying to PC gamers only, so sorry for those Xbox and PlayStation fans.

During this free weekend, Overwatch’s full roster of 28 heroes and 18 maps will be available for play in a variety of modes, including Quick Play, Custom Games, and the Arcade. Players will also be able to level up, earn loot boxes, and unlock several different customisation options.

If Overwatch manages to sink its claws into you after the weekend is over, you will be able to buy the game and keep any progress made during the weekend. That is, as long as you use the same Blizzard account.

The free weekend comes in the wake of the announcement of the official Overwatch Nerf guns. Due in 2019, the Nerf Rival Overwatch Reaper Wight Edition is the first in line and will be able to carry eight Nerf Rival rounds. How much it will retail for is anyone’s guess, but chances are it won’t be cheap. Another question that needs answering is if Reaper’s shotgun will actaully make its way to South Africa.
