Hot on the heels of its Minecraft collection comes Puma’s commitment to off-beat animated comedy - the Rick and Morty streetwear collab. Here’s where it becomes a bit more complex. While most people locally will be familiar with Rick and Morty, the Adult Swim show, you (like us) might not be as familiar with LaMelo Ball, the guy who PUMA tapped for the collab.

As a PUMA sponsored basketball player starring for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA, he's quite the rising star. Apparently, Rick and Morty is his favourite, so why not launch a new streetwear range based on the show? It comes complete with a reinterpretation of the MB.01, LaMelo’s signature PUMA shoe, co-designed by him. These must be the standout part of the range, and if you’re the type of person who like shoes with matching colours, well, there are a million other pairs to choose from, but not these.

Mismatched with the "Jasmine Green/Nrgy Rose” colourways, these shoes incorporate some of LaMelo’s personal style throughout the shoe, such as an artistic outline of flames shooting down from the ankle collar, and the word “Rare” stamped on the shoe’s rubber bottom.

The limited-edition collab will feature the MB.01 Rick and Morty sneakers (R3 199) and six apparel items including: the Rick Hoodie (R1 899), Rick Pant (R1 699), Rick and Morty Long-Sleeved Tee (R1 299), Rick and Morty Short-Sleeved Tee (R1 199), Slime Onesie (R2 499) and the Rick and Morty Short (R1599).

The PUMA X Rick and Morty collection will be available from 13 May on PUMA.com, at PUMA Braamfontein, Mall of Africa, V&A Waterfront and Gateway stores, and Shesha.
