Pricing info and release date for Amazon's Echo Show leaked
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 9 May 2017 | Categories: newsThe Amazon Echo and its Alexa digital assistant are due for an upgrade. At least that's what the past week of leaked images tell us, with a new touchscreen enabled device from Amazon in the offing. The name for the next Echo product has not been officially unveiled by Amazon, but a recent posting from AFTV news suggests it will be called the Amazon Echo Show.
While the name doesn't sound very creative, it's easy to see why they went with Show, as the touch-enabled display will likely support streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, as well as allowing users to read and reply to messages and emails, along with conducting video chats according to reports. Like other Echo devices, the Show will also support voice-control and feature Alexa at its core.
The other bit of news from AFTV news is that the device will begin pre-orders later this week and will carry a $230 (R3 143) price tag, set to begin shipping in the US on 28 June. Amazon is yet to confirm any of this, with official news expected to arrive in coming days.
