Last year, Puma introduced a stability shoe into their running line-up. It’s one we really liked, noting in our review that the ForeverRun NITRO might be Puma’s most appealing shoe for the South African market yet. The new ForeverRun NITRO 2 has now arrived locally, with the company calling it a stability shoe designed for everyday runners and promising improved stability, increased heel support and upgraded comfort to keep runners out on the road for longer.
Two things we enjoyed in the original were the wider midsole and the Runguide system that guides your foot from heel strike to toe off. Both these have been amended on the ForeverRun NITRO 2, with the midsole now wider and with improved Nitrofoam, Puma’s proprietary nitrogen infused foam.
Puma notes Runguide has also been improved, with additional TPU support and 2 mm more midsole, starting at 38 mm at the heel and dropping to 28 mm at the toes. There’s also additional comfort from the rolled heel collar and an upper made from knit material reinforced with PWRTAPE for enhanced breathability and stretch. With a weight of 295 g per shoe (UK 8), it appears that the new ForeverRun NITRO 2 adds 21g per shoe, which means it’s on the heavier end of the spectrum.
Conor Cashin, senior product line manager at Puma talks about the support and guidance offered by the ForeverRun NITRO 2, noting, “When we set out to update this model, we made sure to provide runners with those two benefits without sacrificing the responsiveness they know and love about our NITROFOAM. We achieved that through a new co-moulded NITROFOAM innovation, combining a soft NITRO core for cushion and bounce, with a firmer NITRO rim for guidance in their stride. This gets topped off with a new knitted upper for comfort around the foot that fits like a dream.”
If you feel you need that extra stability during your runs, then Puma’s ForeverRun NITRO 2 is available to purchase on PUMA.com and at selected retail stores for R3 399.
