Quantic Dream introduces Detroit, brings Kara back to life
By Ryan Noik 29 October 2015 | Categories: newsThe most affecting trailer to come out of the Paris Games Week was Detroit, the latest title that Quantic Dream (Beyond: Two Souls, Heavy Rain) is working on.
To understand why this one looks like such a compelling game though, you need to first take a step back and revisit the first trailer below from three years ago, which started its life as a technical demo. This shows an android, Kara, being assembled and becoming self aware.
Now that you’ve done that, here are a few other points worth mentioning – Kara is motion captured and voiced by Valorie Curry, the same actress who did such a compelling, disturbing turn as Emma in the first couple of seasons of The Following.
In the game though Kara conveys Curry’s likeness, and her arresting presence to a tee, brilliantly combining a latent sense of formidable resolve with vulnerability. The reason why this is so important quickly becomes apparent when you view the trailer for Detroit, a game which looks set to bring Kara’s story and her quest to become human to life.
Quantic Dream’s latest reveal brings Kara back to the fore, to tell a story that will apparently pose deep and meaningful questions about what it means to be human, the will to live and maybe even the nature of the soul.Yeah, we can’t wait either. Take a look at the latest trailer below.
