Despite struggles in the latter half of last year as far as mobile hardware is concerned, Samsung appears to have corrected the course, with the Galaxy S8 and S8+ well received by media and consumers alike.

Now, attention will turn to the company's next flagship device, the Galaxy Note 8. To that end, a report from Reuters says the phablet will be announced in late-August, with an event to be held in New York. The report is yet to be confirmed by the South Korean manufacturer, with no mention of it on their official website at this stage.

The Note 8 could prove a significant device for the company, as its predecessor suffered from severe bad press, following several incidents where the phablet caught fire and exploded in some cases. It resulted in a global recall for the Note 7 and numerous jokes at the expense of the company by its competitors.

It should prove interesting to see how consumers react to the new device, and gauge whether Samsung has shaken the battery issue hoodoo.
