Samsung launches ultra-slim NX mini camera

Apart from its interchangeable-lens function, Samsung has also fitted the NX Mini with a flip up display, which is designed to appeal to the selfie obsessed user. This is a growing trend the company is looking to capitalise on, an observation made by Myoung Sup Han, executive vice president and head of the Imaging Business Team.
Weighing in at 158 g and measuring 2.25 cm thick, the NX mini is ideally suited for easy portability and use. The camera’s 3” display can rotate 180 degrees, the purpose of which is to allow to easily frame themselves when self-shooting.
Despite its slim appearance, the NX mini packs a big performance into its small body, with a 20.5 megapixel BSI CMOS Sensor that enables users to capture high quality (5472 x 3648) images. Samsung has also incorporated a fast 6 fps Continuous Shot mode allowing photographers to take continuous shots, ensuring users can pick and choose the precise image they wish.
Shoot and Share
Falling in line with Samsung’s 2014 SMART camera range, the NX mini boats NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity integration for sharing content quickly and easily. The specially designed Tag & Go feature pairs the NX mini with any NFC-enabled devices, and link with a maximum of four devices at any one time. It can can also be controlled via a users smartphone Remote View Finder Pro application.
Along with the NX mini, Samsung designed three specifically catered lenses. The NX-M range includes a 9mm F3.5 lens suited for landscapes and self-portraits, 9-27mm F3.5-5.6 micro-compact zoom lens with optical image stabilization and 17mm F1.8 lens that creates a “bokeh” effect which makes subjects stand out from surroundings.
To date, Samsung has not confirmed any price or scheduled release for the NX Mini and NX-M lens range.
