Samsung takes out full page ads to apologise for Galaxy Note 7 recall

A few weeks after recalling and then subsequently cancelling production altogether for the phablet due to exploding batteries, the South Korean manufacturer has taken full page ads in select US newspapers, apologising to consumers.
The publications include the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Washington Post, all featuring the same message. "An important tenet of our mission is to offer best-in-class safety and quality. Recently, we fell short on this promise. For this we are truly sorry."

Furthermore, it is not simply the Galaxy Note 7 that Samsung is apologising for. Engadget points out the reference to nearly three million washing machines that also had to be recalled due to poorly fitted lids.
Whether or not the company can indeed bounce back from this situation remains to be seen, especially as concerns over the battery quality of future devices, such as the Galaxy S8 expected at MWC next year, will no doubt be brought into question.
