Ahead of the forthcoming SingularityU South Africa Summit 2019, slated to take place in Kyalami on the 16 and 17 October 2019, Singularity has released a mobile app, with a dedicated media stream. Along with the content that will be available to all the delegates, the app is also intended as a home source for media to garner the more recent content immediately as it becomes available.

More specifically, journalists covering the event will be able obtain speaker announcement videos, event photographs, PR photographs, articles, press releases, speaker biographies and more, with real time updates.

Furthermore, media will be able to view the Exponential Africa show, which focusses on thought leaders in the field of exponential innovation from within the app itself, as each episode goes live. As well, the app is intended to enable journalists to live chat with the SingularityU publicist for immediate support as well as each other, giving them a collaborative communication platform.

With the SingularityU events being future focused and on the bleeding edge, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the university’s approach to its summit is similarly innovative. However, there is an advantage to the launch of the app to technologists, business leaders, entrepreneurs and futurists as well. If there was a singular challenge from the most recent SingularityU Exponential Finance Summit held earlier this year (read our coverage here) it was conveying the breadth of information shared at the event.

That, however, was a much smaller event as compared with what is to come in October, and therefore the easier it is to get as much information out from the summit, ahead of, during and after the event, the better.

As well, SingularityU South Africa have confirmed the third annual summit is slated to be “exponentially bigger than previous years,” with a particular focus on leveraging new technologies to help solve the global challenges as well as future proofing Africa. Speakers that have already been announced include Sivan Ya’ari, Ramez Naam, Andres De Leon, Kim Hullet, Suzanne Gildert (pHD), and Kris Øostergaard. More speakers will be announced shortly.

“It only felt fitting that we innovate in the way that the media access our materials, by making it as easy and convenient as possible” commented Mic Mann, co-CEO of SingularityU South Africa.

“We value our relationships with media tremendously and are thankful for their support in helping us take SingularityU further in South Africa,” added Shayne Mann, co-CEO of SingularityU South Africa.

In its own words, the upcoming summit is intended to enable its participants to “create a collaborative and more economically-inclusive future, whereby partnerships and deals can be conceptualised and developed across the continent. Networking opportunities will allow attendees to connect with SingularityU faculty members and alumni. Exhibitors will present breakthrough ideas and investment opportunities that will run alongside the summit.”
