Tesla's Roadster will have an even faster special option package
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 20 November 2017 | Categories: NewsLate last week, Tesla Motors held a press conference showcasing a pair of vehicles on either side of the motoring spectrum, with a new Roadster and a all-electric semi truck debuting. The latter has been billed as a revolutionary development for the trucking industry, according to Tesla, but it's the Roadster that has gathered most of the attention.
Powered by an all-electric motor, the Roadster sets several records for EVs and petrol cars alike. Tesla notes that it has a driving range of 997 kilometres and top speed of 402 km/h, but the most impressive figure is the 1.9 second 0-100 km/h time, which would make it the fastest accelerating production car of all time.
Tesla founder Elon Musk notes that the new Roadster is not done there, with a "special option package" said to further boost the vehicle's performance to even faster speeds. Unfortunately, Musk did not commit to any actual figures, but given how other Ludicrous Modes on previous Tesla cars have fared, we're expecting the Roadster to be pretty rapid.
