The Edge opens at DP World Wanderers Cricket Stadium

Johannesburg has a new destination for business and corporate events, high performance and purposeful recovery. The Edge, launched by the all-female team at The Networking Company (TnCO), has officially opened at the iconic DP World Wanderers Cricket Stadium, offering a new opportunity for remote workers and events in the city.
A new kind of space
The first thing that you notice entering The Edge is the view – a panoramic, expansive view of the Wanderers cricket pitch, with natural light streaming in through large windows, that makes it both inviting and calming at the same time.
It has an unmistakenly professional aura, and reminded me of some of the better airport lounges I have visited over the years – which manage to be conducive to productive work and also to some welcome relaxation in between long-haul flights. This was in part due to the décor, which blends light wood and natural finishes with soft oak furnishings, creating an environment that is classy, contemporary and soothing, as well as the warm reception and, if you are a coffee lover, the pro-grade coffee machine that is a feature.

I was informed that The Edge is designed as a 300m² environment where work, recovery and meaningful connection come together. The new venue boasts a large events space for functions and special occasions, an intimate co-working space for up to eight people and two boardrooms with capacity for three and twelve guests. Helen Nicholson, founder of The Networking Company, explained that the space is also ideal for leadership and business workshops, and can be booked as required, whether that is for a single day or several.
From every room, guests can enjoy inspiring views of the lush stadium field, natural light throughout the space and a calm atmosphere, ideal for reflection and renewal.
Where The Edge diverges from your usual evening or business coworking venue is that also features a recovery treatment zone with five cold plunge baths and a six-seater infra-red sauna, reminiscent of your high-end gym. Nicholson explains that cold plunge baths offer both physical and mental benefits. Physically, cold water is believed to reduce inflammation and muscle soreness, speed up exercise recovery, boost circulation and improve lymphatic flow in the body. Mentally, cold plunge baths release endorphins and can help boost one’s mood. However, Nicholson highlighted another benefit – that if one can do a cold plunge bath it helps build emotional and mental resiliency and the belief in oneself to rise to other challenges in one’s life.

Work, recover, connect
The Edge has been purpose-built to host private events, leadership programmes, training sessions and strategy meetings. The space is equally suited for book or product launches, strategic conversations and immersive workshops. But it is not only companies that can benefit – individuals are welcome too. It was explained that for individuals, use of the co-working space is available at a per day rate, which includes a cup of Naked coffee, with no membership commitment required. Bookings can be made directly via info@theedge.co.za.
“The Edge was created to give leaders and teams an environment that supports both clarity of thought and personal wellbeing. It is a place where people can connect deeply, work with focus and recover intentionally. We believe this balance is vital for sustainable performance and impact,” concluded Nicholson.
With its innovative mix of work, recovery and event facilities, The Edge signals a new way of engaging with productivity and leadership in Johannesburg. For more information, follow The Edge on social media @theedgesouthafrica or visit the website at https://theedge.co.za/.
