The recent PS4 update is causing Wi-Fi issues for users
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 23 March 2017 | Categories: newsTwo weeks ago Sony released a substantial update for the PS4, 4.50, which served up support for external hard drives and custom wallpapers among other improvements. Unfortunately, it has also resulted in issues for some users, if the PlayStation Forum comments are to be believed. The specific issue in question is the loss of Wi-Fi functionality that several gamers have cited after they downloaded and installed the most recent update.
According to Engadget, as many as 250 posts bearing the same error code, NW-31297-2, have been reported. Sony has provided some troubleshooting tips, but in many cases, it has not worked. As a result, PS4 owners have been forced to purchase Wi-Fi range extenders with a built-in ethernet port in order to combat the issue.
Sony has since acknowledged that the fixes it has offered are not cutting it, and says it will look into the problem and provide a permanent solution.
