Toyota's Kirobo Mini robot companion goes on sale next year for $400
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 3 October 2016 | Categories: newsIf you think Toyota only does cars, think again. The Japanese company is also involved in the robot game, specifically small companion ones. Their latest offering is a 10 cm tall version of the Kirobo robot they showcased at last year's Tokyo Motor Show. This new version is aptly named Kirobo Mini, and is designed to fit in one's cupholder, specifically the one found in a Prius.
Set to go on sale in its native Japan next year, this pint-sized gadget is not cheap, and will cost a rather staggering $400. What do you get for that kind of money? Well, the Kirobo Mini is designed to be a driving companion. Think of it like having a backseat driver, but one that is not nearly as annoying.
Use of the Kirobo Mini also requires a compatible smartphone and $3 monthly subscription, although what the latter entails is not abundantly clear. To see what the Kirobo Mini is all about, press play on the video below.
