Vivo unveils X9s and X9s Plus with dual front-facing cameras
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 10 July 2017 | Categories: newsLast year, a handful of Chinese smartphone makers cracked the top five of IDC's mobile market tracker for Q1 2016. Among them was Vivo, whose branding you may have seen for the IPL or their devices in Captain America: Civil War. The company has now released a pair of devices for the latter half of this year, with the X9s and X9s Plus breaking cover.
Both devices look the same, and they have a striking resemblance to Huawei's P10 and P10 Plus. While neither sport a Leica-certified dual lens camera on the rear, they do sport two front-facing cameras for taking selfies.
To that end, there's a 20 MP and 5 MP camera on the front of each device, along with a 16 MP option on the back. Each device will run Android Nougat, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage. In terms of dimensions, the X9s has a 5.5" Full HD display and X9s Plus a 5.85" Full HD screen.
The precise release date of the X9s and X9s Plus has not been disclosed, but the larger device is said to cost approximately $440. At this stage, Vivo is not an officially distributed brand locally, but that may change in coming years as their profile raises.
