Here is some good news for Vodacom subscribers: the company has announced that its customers are about to receive a bounty of star-studded franchises, beloved classic movies and box office hits. More specifically, Vodacom announced the launch of MGM’s branded entertainment offer to bring more of the entertainment company’s best movies to its Video Play service.

MGM (Metro Goldwyn Meyer), is a legend in the film industry. The Studio is behind some of the most memorable film franchises, such as James Bond and Rocky, as well as classics like Gone with the Wind and Ben Hur.

Titles that will be available on the Video Play service include The HobbitLegally BlondeThe Pink PantherThe Handmaid’s TaleGet Shorty and Teen Wolf, among many others. The MGM content will be part of Vodacom’s Video Play Premium service, which already boasts a wide range of international and local movies, TV series, music and children’s content.

Subscribers can choose to enjoy the new MGM offering as part of Video Play Premium, which currently costs R99 for a monthly subscription, R40 for a weekly subscription, and R25 for a daily subscription. In line with its stated intent to make life easier for its customers, Video Play subscribers can add any costs incurred to their Vodacom bill or airtime.

Alternatively, the new content offering is also being made available as part of a standalone, a la carte subscription Micro Pass. This will retail for R59 for a monthly subscription, R25 for a weekly subscription, and R10 for a daily subscription. 

The MGM service launch with Vodacom marks MGM’s first foray into the South African region with its branded entertainment offer.
