With the Rugby World Cup in full swing, it’s easy to forget that the URC starts on 21 October. With this in mind, the Vodacom Bulls and PUMA have launched the new 2023/24 kit. This is done with the Welcome to the Capital of Rugby campaign celebrating the fans, the gees, the legends and future stars behind the badge.

The men’s team Home kit is in light blue shirt, dark blue shorts and white socks while the Alternative kit consists of a white shirt, white shorts and blue socks. The women’s team (and 2023 SA Rugby Women’s Premier Division champs), the Bulls Daisies, will sport the white kit for home games and the blue kit will be their alternative strip.

The word BULLS appears as an ambigram graphic (in this case a clever visual palindrome) on the blue jersey while the white jersey (our favourite) has an abstract blue Barberton daisy graphic across the shoulders and chest.

The Welcome to the Capital of Rugby campaign video for the new kit highlights the signature Jacaranda trees, legendary Vodacom Bulls players, the up-and-coming Bulletjies and the flag waving fans. Bulls legend Victor Matfield plays a key role in the campaign, with current Bulls stars Simphiwe Matanzima, Elrigh Louw and Johan Grobbelaar also onboard. The Bulls’ current Springboks, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Marco van Standen and Canaan Moodie are noticeably absent, on duty of course in France and preparing for a crucial quarter-final against hosts France. The Daisy’s Libbie Janse Van Rensburg is also involved, with the Bulls Daisies the first women's team to be offered professional contracts in the history of SA rugby.

“As our relationship with the Vodacom Bulls enters its second decade, we are celebrating the team’s home town,” said Brett Bellinger, Marketing Director of PUMA South Africa. “The Union Buildings are the official seat of South Africa’s government and for blue-blooded fans Loftus is the capital of rugby.”

Vodacom Bulls CEO Edgar Rathbone notes, “Our 2023/24 jersey speaks to versatility and pride, which are traits that we associate ourselves with as a franchise and a people with a common passion for the game. We wanted to have a jersey that stands out and keeps us connected no matter where we go and PUMA captured that perfectly with an ever-present Bulls ambigram that celebrates our DNA across all corners of our communities,”

Rathbone added, “This is a jersey that unites us all as the Vodacom Bulls family and I cannot wait to see the young and old fill up Loftus in their new fan wear. It is going to be special.”

In-store from 13 October the new 2023/24 Vodacom Bulls Home and Alternative Replica kit will be available from PUMA.com, Puma Retail Stores, Totalsports, Sneakers International, and Sportsmans Warehouse at a recommended retail price of R899 (men), R799 (women) and R799 (kid sizes).

A range of fanwear including a waist bag and a bucket hat, tees and polos, pants, leggings and shorts, as well as hoodies and training jackets, will also be available from 13 October 2023.
