Will Eggsy be the new (young) Han Solo?
By Ryan Noik 25 February 2015 | Categories: newsApparently, starring in a surprise hit spy movie pays off. The latest news is that Taron Egerton, who plays Eggsy in the terrifically fun Kingsman: The Secret Service (review), has been earmarked to potentially snag the role of playing a young Han Solo.
More particularly, according to the Daily Mail, Egerton may well get to try on Solo’s brash confidence in one of the Star Wars spinoff movies. This would reportedly follow the smuggler’s original run-in with Jabba the Hut, and how he managed to get his hands on “that pile of space junk” aka the Millenium Falcon. There is no word yet whether the movie will also detail how Han and Chewbacca first hooked up, but let’s hope.
Egerton certainly isn’t the worst casting choice in the world; considering how well he did in the aforementioned Kingsman. Also, if he does get the role, then it would mean that Leia wouldn’t be his first encounter with a princess either (you will need to watch Kingsman to the end to get the reference).
The only bad news is that the spinoff movie will likely only arrive in 2018, which means we have a bit of a wait on our hands, and thus plenty of time to keep debating important things like, in the Star Wars bar scene, who shot first?
