The console wars have truly heated up in the past few months. Not since Microsoft and Sony's next-gen consoles hit the market a couple years ago have consumers been so interested in either company's hardware.

At E3 this year, Microsoft unveiled a svelte version of its Xbox One, the One S, while teasing information about its Project Scorpio console. With details not fully disclosed, all we were given was a video where game developers spoke about how excited they were to start using the latest offering from Microsoft.

In a recent interview with WinBeta, head of Xbox Phil Spencer spilled some of the beans on Project Scorpio, but not the specifications of the device. As such, we're still unsure of how it will compare to Sony's recently debuted PS4 Pro. For now, the major talking points have been its 6 teraflops of processing power and catering to 4K gaming.

Nevertheless, Spencer did shed some light, describing the console as "premium product." While premium is a rather ambiguous term when it comes to pricing, Spencer mentioned that the console should not cost more than $600. Whether or not he should be held to any such claim, remains to be seen.

If Project Scorpio indeed costs $600 or less, it would be roughly the same price as the PS3 in 2007, as Gamespot notes. The PS4 Pro, however, is listed to go on sale for $400 when it debuts in select countries on 10 November (SA's status unknown at this stage). Will Project Scorpio then, deliver $200 more in terms of specifications and gameplay? Hopefully next year's E3 will shed more light.
