In a first for the continent, Fujifilm South Africa has opened its new Innovation Centre Africa to customers. The Innovation Centre Africa enables Fujifilm to exhibit the company’s wide variety of products to clients, providing a convenient, one-stop demonstration area where solutions can be seen in action.

The Fujifilm Innovation Centre is the first of its kind in Africa, joining similar Fujifilm offerings in the United States and Europe. According to Fujifilm South Africa’s Managing Director, Takeo Hata, the Innovation Centre Africa provides the perfect place to display and demonstrate products to clients. “Fujifilm has a long history of innovation, and to have these world-class products on display in our Innovation Centre Africa is a wonderful privilege,” he states.

While Fujifilm might be best known for their mirrorless camera systems, such as the recently released X-H1, the Japanese company offers world-class products in a number of other industries, many of which are on display at the Innovation Centre Africa.

Some of the fields Fujifilm operates in include:

  • Medical Systems, offering digital radiography, computer radiography, X-Ray film, and medical IT PACS system;
  • Graphic Systems, offering wide format inkjet printers (flatbed & roll), newspaper and commercial plates, and packaging printing solutions (Flexographic Plate, UV Flex Ink, UV Flexo LED Ink);
  • Photographic Imaging, offering wet/dry minilab printing systems, Instax cameras and films, and wall decorative products;
  • Electronic Imaging, offering mirrorless camera systems and lenses, underwater cameras, and broadcast lenses.

Hata notes that one aim of the Innovation Centre Africa is to start a dialogue with business partners to see how Fujifilm can assist with solutions. “Take our wide format printers for example. There is such a lot that these can do, and chatting with clients allows not only them to spot further business opportunities, but it provides us with valuable feedback on how our solutions can be improved,” he notes. Some examples of these enhanced solutions are on display at the Innovation Centre.

The Innovation Centre includes a display area for large format printers, cameras, and printed products, plus a specially constructed X-Ray room. This room houses some of Fujifilm’s world leading medical equipment, including the FDR Smart f digital X-Ray system. This unit is active in a number of hospitals worldwide and is renowned for the improvement in workflow that it offers.

“As a full subsidiary of Fujifilm, Fujifilm South Africa is extremely proud of the Innovation Centre Africa. We are looking forward to hosting our business partners and to start a constructive dialogue with them,” Hata concludes.

The Fujifilm Africa Innovation Centre is open to Fujifilm business partners and interested parties during working hours, Mondays to Fridays. It is situated at No. 5 Jockey Street, Stormill, Roodepoort.
