AMD release the ATI Radeon HD 5970
By Staff Writer 18 November 2009 | Categories: newsAMD released the ATI Radeon HD 5970 internationally today. The HD 5970 supports Microsoft DirectX11 and according to AMD it\'s the world’s fastest standalone GPU with more than 5 TeraFLOPS of computing power.
Using AMD\'s ATI CrossFireX technology, the card features multiple GPUs linked on a single board via a PCI Express bridge. Naturally AMD is boasting about the card’s “massive overclocking potential”; using ATI Overdrive technology and an advanced cooling system users are apparently able to utilise every last bit of power the card has to offer. AMD’s Eyefinity technology also allows the card to drive up to three displays at a maximum display resolution of 7680 x 160.
No word on local pricing or availability as yet. International retailers price the device at around $599 though.
