After unveiling the new Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition and Radeon HD 7750 last month, AMD has announced two new additions to its 28 nm Radeon HD GPU line-up, namely the Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition and the Radeon HD 7850 graphics cards.

Both of these new GPUs (graphics processing units) boast AMD’s Graphics Core Next Architecture (GCN) to boost graphical performance and power efficiency. The Radeon HD 7800 series comes equipped with PCI Express 3.0 and sports 2 GB of GDDR5 RAM.

Like the Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition, the new 7870 GHz Edition also features a 1000 MHz engine clock, but it does boast a slightly quicker 1200 MHz memory clock (4.8 Gbps GDDR5), compared to the 7770 GHz Edition’s 1125 MHz memory clock. AMD’s new Radeon HD 7850 GPU sports a 860 MHz engine clock and 1200 MHz memory clock.

The company stated that both cards will be available globally from its add-in-board partners, the likes of Asus, MSI, Sapphire and VisionTek. No local pricing and release info is available yet.

“Engineered for supremacy, designed for efficiency and packed with incredible features, the AMD Radeon HD 7800 series offers more than just the world’s most advanced graphics: it offers the incredible performance every gamer deserves,” said Matt Skynner corporate vice president and general manager, GPU Division, AMD.

“AMD continues to lead the industry in desktop graphics innovation with unrivalled computing and unequalled technologies like our game-changing GCN Architecture.”
