Following the introduction of its Radeon HD 6800 series, AMD has turned its attention back to its central processor range. The company announced two new “Black Edition” processors today, one of which is the new flagship six-core desktop CPU.
 
The flagship AMD Phenom II X6 1100T,offers high-end features like unlocked clock multipliers, Turbo CORE technology as well as six-core performance. AMD’s fastest six core CPU boasts 6 MB of level 3 cache as well as 3 MB of level 2 cache and runs at a frequency of 3.3 GHz.
 
AMD’s Phenom II X2 565 Black Edition is a more affordable dual-core CPU for users that are on a budget, but still looking for performance-tuning capabilities at high clock speeds. This dual-core CPU operates at a frequency of 3.4 GHz and sports 1 MB of level 2 cache.
 
On the tablet front, it has recently been revealed that AMD’s Ontario APU (accelerated processing unit), codenamed C-50, will be employed within Acer’s unnamed Windows-running tablet PC, which will be released in February 2011. This dual-core CPU also boasts an integrated Radeon HD 6250 graphics chip.
