Update: The recommended retail prices for the Acer Timeline X series ranges from R7 999 for the 3820T to R9 499 for the 5820T.

Acer SA has announced the local availability of their impressive Aspire Timeline X range of notebooks. This latest iteration should make road-warriors smile as it offers up to a massive 12 hours of battery life.

Models in the range are also light, weighing in at around a comfortable 2.5 kg or less. This doesn’t mean that it’s a range of technological featherweights though, as they boast Intel’s new Core I range of processors, whilst graphics are handled by ATI Mobility Radeon graphics cards. Their sound performance isn’t shabby either, seeing that movie and music playback will be boosted by Dolby Home Theatre sound.

Users will get a choice of three models that boast displays in 13.3", 14" and a 15.6" sizes. The latter is an HD-ready display with a screen resolution of 1366 x 768. The models will offer a host of connectivity options such as 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Gigabit fast Ethernet, as well as Bluetooth 2.1 and 3.0 EDR (Enhanced Data Rate).

“With the Timeline 2009 series, we proved that customers no longer had to choose between battery life and performance,” said John Geypen, product manager at Acer South Africa. “Customers could roam freely with their notebooks for a full day without worrying about running out of power. Now, the new range of Timeline X notebooks offers even better performance and longer battery life than the earlier series, and at a price that is affordable to a range of home and business users.”
