The thing that sets the Aspire One Happy apart from the rest of the netbook stable is the fact that it runs two different operating systems (OS's). The device ships with the Windows 7 and Android operating systems pre-installed, meaning users can dual-boot whichever OS they prefer, be it Android for a speedy start-up or Windows for a more intensive working session.

 

According to CCL, the Aspire One Happy is a netbook that perfectly complies with the tiny standards of today, measuring in at just 24 mm thick and weighing a barely registrable 1.25 kg.

 

However the netbook offers a 93% full-sized keyboard, aiding a lot in the way of typing comfort to the compact device. It also comes with an 8-cell battery which Acer claims can offer up to eight hours of operation on a single charge.

 

The device is powered either by an Intel Atom N450 or Intel Atom Dual-Core N5500 CPU and comes with an integrated 250 GB hard drive as well as the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150, 2 GB of RAM and a multi functional card reader.

 

The device is available in a variety of colours including Candy Pink, Lavender Purple, Lime Green and Hawaii Blue. It should be launching in time for Christmas, at least in the UK, where the netbook is selling for £250 (around R2 750). No information on South African release dates are available at this time.

 

Acer is set to reveal their tablet devices, running on Android 3.0, on 23 November.
