Acer unveils the Aspire One 722
By Johan Keyter 10 May 2011 | Categories: newsAcer recently unveiled the latest notebook in its Aspire One range, a stylish machine designed with entertainment in mind, the Aspire One 722.
Benefiting from the power of AMD APU Fusion technology, the notebook features an AMD C-50 CPU alongside an AMD HD 6250 GPU, delivering oodles of performance. The more powerful graphics options allows users to enjoy the latest games as well as enabling seamless HD video playback at all times.
DDR3 memory options are also available, with different sized modules on offer, ensuring improved multitasking and overall performance.
Acer has also added a number of extra features to the device to improve the overall user experience, such as the full-size Acer Finetip keyboard and a multi-touch touchpad capable of advanced gestures such as pinch-to-zoom, image rotation and improved scrolling.
Sporting an 11.6" Acer CineCrytal LED-backlit display and weighing a mere 1.35 kg, the thin (exactly 1") device can easily fit into even the most cramped notebook bag.
The display, capable of HD resolutions as well as sporting that sought after 16:9 aspect ratio is perfect for entertainment, with an added HDMI port allowing for quick connection between HDTVs, projectors and other HDMI devices.
The Aspire One 722 also sports Wi-Fi, LAN and optional 3G or Bluetooth to make sure you're connected at all times. An Acer Crystal Eye webcam also makes an appearance, with Acer Video Conference Manager software bundled to allow not only face-to-face chat but also photo, document and screen sharing on the spot.
The device is also environmentally conscious, with Energy Star V5.0 compliancy as well as following EU efficiency directives.
The new Acer Aspire One 722 should be available in South Africa middle June, pricing information have been requested and will be added soon.
