The evergreen and popular Adobe Photoshop turns 20 today and fans from around the globe are celebrating the momentous event with festivities in their respective countries.

Honouring this occasion in the US is the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), who celebrated with a Photoshop 20th Anniversary commemoration attended by over a thousand people in San Francisco at the Palace of the Fine Arts Theatre.

There are also parties being held overseas in Japan, Southeast Asia as well as in Europe. Adobe Germany is holding a 20-hour online marathon, featuring over 15 local Photoshop experts showcasing their aptitude with the program to Photoshop users, while Photoshop design contests will also be held in India and France. There is also an Adobe TV broadcast up online, in which the original ‘Photoshop team’ comes together for the first time in 18 years, to reminisce about the early life of the program as well as to demonstrate Photoshop 1.0.

You can participate by sharing your favourite experiences of Photoshop on the community’s Facebook page or via Twitter. “For 20 years, Photoshop has played many different roles – it has given creative people the power to deliver amazing images that impact every part of our visual culture and challenged the eye with its ability to transform photographs,” said Shantanu Narayen, president and CEO of Adobe. “It’s no exaggeration to say that, thanks to millions of creative customers, Photoshop has changed the way the world looks at itself.”
