The Mobile World Congress 2010 has spawned some pretty peculiar partnerships. First there was Intel and Nokia joining forces to create MeeGo, and now there’s Puma and Sagem teaming up to create the Puma phone.

The Puma phone features a 2.8" QVGA TFT touch-screen, as well as a solar panel mounted on the back of the phone to recharge it. Charging the mobile for an hour in the sun will apparently give it enough juice for you to enjoy up to two hours of music playback. The sport inspired mobile also has a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash, 3.5 mm audio jack, GPS, a digital compass, geotagging capability and a pedometer.

A specially developed mobile OS does the operating, created by the German sportswear giant together with Sagem. You’ll be able to download apps as well as widgets for it via the Puma website. The Puma phone will arrive in Europe in April. No word yet as to when it will become available in South Africa.
