Apple AirPrint wireless printing now available to Epson users
By Hanleigh Daniels 12 September 2011 | Categories: newsJapanese technology company and printer, information and imaging equipment manufacturer Epson has announced that AirPrint wireless printing for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, will be supported by most new models of its inkjet printers, as of September 2011.
AirPrint enables iPad, iPhone and iPod touch customers to wirelessly print to AirPrint-enabled printers, without the need to install drivers.
AirPrint will be available with Epson inkjet printers launched from spring 2011 onwards. AirPrint works with iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod touch (third generation and later), which operates on iOS 4.2 or later. It was originally only available to AirPrint enabled printers from HP including the HP Photosmart, HP LaserJet Pro and HP Officejet (including the HP Officejet 6500A Plus, HP Officejet 7500A Wide Format and HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus) that supported printing directly from iOS-operating devices.
“We're delighted that users of Epson’s AirPrint-enabled printers will now be able to print directly from their iOS devices,” Kelvin Reynolds, regional manager at Epson Southern Africa. “With AirPrint, no software or setup is required, so documents, photos and emails can be quickly and easily printed to any AirPrint-enabled Epson printer.”
