Apple products contraband in Gates home
By Hanleigh Daniels 25 October 2010 | Categories: newsDuring an interview with the The New York Times, Melinda Gates, co-chairwoman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and wife of Bill Gates, stated that absolutely no Apple products crosses the threshold of their Washington home.
When asked if she owns an iPod she responded, “No, I have a Zune” and whether she owns an iPad, her response was “Of course not”. It’s not only to her that this self-imposed Apple ban applies, because if one of her kids were to beg her for an iPod her response would be, “You may have a Zune.”
When asked if it was true that Bill does his work on an Apple MacBook, she stated that this was “False. Nothing crosses the threshold of our doorstep.”
As for the peaceful coexistence of Cupertino and Redmond products, Mrs. Gates said that “Microsoft certainly makes products for the Macintosh. Go talk to Bill.”
This year Bill Gates was relegated to being the second wealthiest person in the world. He was deposed by Mexican telecom magnate Carlos Slim Helu and his family.
