Apple reports highest revenue ever
By Tom Manners 21 July 2010 | Categories: newsWith just a little help from its wildly popular iPad and iPhone 4 devices, style savvy technology developer Apple recently posted its most successful quarterly revenue report ever, weighing in at a staggering $15.7 billion (R117 billion).
The company released its third quarter fiscal results on Tuesday, which indicate an 88% increase in revenue compared to the same quarter last year, which netted the company $3.25 billion in profit.
During this time period Apple sold 3.27 million iPads, 3.47 million Macs and 8.4 million iPhones. iPod sales however were down by 8% to 9.41 million during the quarter.
"It was a phenomenal quarter that exceeded our expectations all around, including the most successful product launch in Apple's history, with iPhone 4," said company CEO Steve Jobs in a statement.
This quarter was also the first in which Apple toppled Microsoft to become the most valuable technology in the world in terms of market cap. Although Microsoft has since reclaimed the top spot, it was certainly a shocker and arguably hints at the direction in which Apple might be heading in coming years.
