Apricorn 640GB Aegis Bio
By Johan Keyter 16 July 2010 | Categories: newsApricorn, a personal storage provider, today announced a new 640GB version to their Aegis Bio product line.
The hardware encrypted biometric portable hard drive allows user to securely access their files via a built-in fingerprint scanner.
The Aegis Bio’s biometric fingerprint sensor restricts unauthorized access to the drive while real-time 128-bit AES hardware encryption protects all data on the drive, even if it were to be dismantled.
"With several of the largest data breaches of 2010 involving lost or stolen portable storage devices, the need for secure portable storage has never been greater," said Mike McCandless, VP of Sales and Marketing at Apricorn.
Once your fingerprint is registered on the device the Aegis Bio can be used on any USB-equipped computer, making it the perfect companion to keeping your data safe.
Aside from securing your data in the physical world, the Aegis Bio can also securely log users in to their favourite websites with UPEK’s Protector Suite Token software, which is also loaded onto the device. With this software your sensitive login data is protected from malicious key logging programs, giving users an extra layer of protection.
In addition to its extensive security offerings, the Aegis Bio also features an integrated USB 2.0 cable (meaning no more carrying bulky cables around), a software CD, neoprene travel pouch and Quick Start Guide to help you quickly and easily secure your data.
The range of Aegis Bio devices can be purchased online at Apricorn’s website.
