According to CVG, former Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia creative director, Patrice Désilets, has announced that he will be moving over to rival developers THQ next year as the head of a new development studio.

Désilets spent ten years at Ubisoft fuelling the creative drive behind Assassin's Creed and its sequel as well as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Speaking with CVG, Ubisoft Montreal called his exit “a shocker”, but did not elaborate further on the matter. Désilets spent ten years at the studio before leaving Ubisoft earlier this year to take a “creative break from the industry” after serving on the creative team of AC: Brotherhood.

THQ core games boss, Danny Bilson said, “the best way we can deliver fresh, high-quality gaming experiences is by working with the best talent. We expect calender 2011 to be a watershed year for THQ, and adding developers like Partrice helps ensure our focus on new IP and great games charted by leading industry artists.

Ubisoft Montreal will be particularly hard hit by Désilets' departure, also losing the brains behind the Splinter Cell series, Clint Hocking, earlier in the year.
