Thanks to a partnership between Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Montegrappa, Italy’s oldest manufacturer of fine writing implements, fans of the DC Comics will soon be able to get their hands on a new collection of pens so inspired.

The Caped Crusader (Batman) will be the first to receive the honour, with a collection that consists of 1939 Batman fountain pens and 1939 Batman roller balls, recalling the year when the character was first introduced.

Mightier than the sword

The pen’s themselves will be made of aluminium with a black anodised finish, and exhibit a dark grey hue that is intended to evoke the colour of Batman's original costume.Additionally, the pens will also be engraved with bats in flight. As befitting the titular billionaire, the fountain pen will boast a 18k gold nib bearing the Batman logo.

The company also revealed that 500 box sets will include exclusive cufflinks and a wristwatch. The former will be jet-black representations of the Batman logo in three dimensions, while the wristwatch will be based on the Montegrappa NeroUno watches. However, the black watch will aptly sport a flying bats pattern on the bezel and the dial.

To the point

“We are very proud of this partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products,” explained Giuseppe Aquila, Montegrappa’s CEO. “I’m an avid fan of the DC Comics characters, particularly of Batman, and working on this project gave me the opportunity to relive the legend of this incredible super hero,” he concluded.

While local pricing and availability has not as yet been confirmed, we will update with that information when it becomes available.
